Jamaica Fibreglass Pro-ducts Limited (JFP) last week announced its largest contract to date from client, Sandals Resorts International (SRI).
The job for Sandals Resorts is valued at US$300,000 (J$31 million), according to director and co-owner, Metry Seaga.
Jamaica Fibreglass will provide solid mahogany case furnishings for the bedrooms of the Paradise block of suites at Sandals Negril, said SRI. Seaga said the order includes bathroom vanities, side tables, magazine racks and luggage racks.
The resort property is currently being upgraded.
Other hotels which feature JFP’s designs include the Spanish Court Hotel, Sunset Jamaica Grande, St Lucia Coconut Bay and SuperClubs properties, says Seaga. The company has also supplied properties in Canada.
Seaga also said negotiations are also well advanced for furnishings for the Courtyard/Marriot being developed by the Pan-Jamaican Investment Trust and partners in New Kingston.
Kingston-based Jamaica Fibre-glass, which has been around for close to a generation, has grown overtime from a staff of 25, working out of a factory on East Street, to a workforce of 100 who operate from a 65,000-square foot plant at Spanish Town Road. The company was founded 28 years ago in 1985.
Its largest contract, Seaga states, was one done for LIME, which saw JFP doing installations for stores right across the Caribbean for a contract valued at US$1 million.
The company’s clientele also span the restaurant/fast food sector, as well as nightclubs and hospitals.
Seaga said that given the prospects for 2014, Jamaica Fibreglass is projecting a minimum 10 per cent growth next year.
“We have been engaged in relationship building. With the US economy picking up and hopefully ours following that, 10 per cent is a good estimate of where we intend to go,” he said.
Jamaica Fibreglass’ annual turnover amounts to J$250 million, says Seaga. The company supplies tables, chairs, counters, planters, divider walls, bars, and complete hotel room suites and other products supplied domestically and within the Caribbean.
